A Prayer for More Love in the World

Dearest God,

Our world needs more love.

Help us remember that life is not only about ourselves—our own needs, opinions, and concerns—but about how we treat one another and the difference we make while we are here.

Help us become less concerned with what we can get from life and more concerned with what we can give.

Open our hearts to truly see others. Help us look beyond appearances, labels, and assumptions. Teach us to see through the eyes of people whose experiences may be different from our own—people of different races, nationalities, cultures, genders, and sexual orientations.

Help us remember that beneath our differences, we all share the same hopes, fears, dreams, and desire to be loved. When we lose sight of our connection to one another, help us remember that we are one human family.

Show us how to offer a kind word, listen with an open heart, stand up for those who are mistreated, care for those who are struggling, and treat all living beings with compassion and respect.

And when our time here is complete, may we look back knowing that we helped make this world a kinder place simply because we were in it.

And so it is.
