Just like your human loved ones, your pets that have passed can also come to you in your dreams with messages. These messages are often as simple as telling you they’re still with you and love you, but sometimes they can be even more complex. My boyfriend Ken, for example, received a message from my cat, Otis in a dream that he didn’t understand at first…
“As my dream began, I noticed my buddy Otis running across the floor. I didn’t realize that I was dreaming at that moment, so it felt natural that he was with me. There was one thing that was very strange, though. Otis was running around with what appeared to be a piece of cardboard with two holes in it on his back. The cardboard looked like a hangtag that’s used for hanging items on a peg hook in a store. The moment I saw it on him, he turned toward me, ran, and jumped into my arms. His head was buried right into my cheek as he was hugging me, and that’s when I woke up.”
Ken realized that this was not a normal dream. He could feel Otis’ long fur, the warmth and weight of his body, and even felt the characteristic crusty fur on Otis’ cheeks from dried cat food as the cat rubbed against him. When Ken woke up, he remembered the dream vividly and wondered about the meaning of the hang-tag on Otis’s back.
“At first when I woke up, I thought the hangtag on Otis’s back was bizarre and didn’t understand the significance of it until I talked to Karen about the dream later that day. The funny thing is that its meaning should have been obvious to me, but for some reason I just wasn’t getting it.
A few weeks earlier, during Christmas time, I received one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten in my life. Karen found an amazing painter named Eva, who created a beautiful portrait of Otis for me. I loved it very much, but it was so special that I was afraid to hang it up. I didn’t want it to get ruined, so it was still sitting in a safe place. After telling Karen about the dream, she recognized right away what the hangtag on Otis’s back had meant: it was his way of letting me know that it was okay for me to finally hang that picture.”
As you can see, coming through in dreams is a perfect way for your pets to get your attention if they have an important message for you! It’s also a great opportunity for them to let you know that they are still around you and are okay. Again, keep in mind that you must wake up after these dreams in order to remember them; so before you go to sleep at night, make sure to ask your departed critters to awaken you after their visit.
Many blessings to you!
