A Prayer for Our Country

Divine Source,

we hold our country with care right now.

We know how much pain lives here.

We see the fear, the anger, the confusion,

and we feel how deeply it touches us all.

So we come with open hearts,

asking for love to grow where it is needed most.

Guide us toward compassion.

Help us remember how to treat one another

with dignity and respect—

across differences of color, culture, nationality, religion,

sexual orientation, and belief.

Let no one be forgotten, dismissed, or pushed aside.

Strengthen kindness in us.

Not only in gentle moments,

but in times that ask for courage.

Help us not remain silent

when injustice is happening,

when harm is being done,

or when dignity is being stripped away.

Teach us how to speak clearly and thoughtfully,

without hatred,

without cruelty,

without losing our humanity.

Help us slow down long enough

to see through another person’s eyes.

To feel what they may be carrying.

To remember that everyone longs to be safe,

seen, and valued.

Grant wisdom to those in positions of power.

May they lead with humility and conscience.

And may their decisions reflect care for the whole,

especially for those who are vulnerable or unheard.

Keep our hearts open.

When fear rises, steady us.

When anger pulls at us, ground us.

When the world feels overwhelming,

remind us that love still matters—

and that love sometimes calls us

to stand, to speak, and to protect.

May our country move toward greater understanding,

greater compassion,

and deeper connection.

And may we not look away from what is happening,

but meet it with love and courage.
